My NIFES story

I was privileged to meet and fellowship with NIFES prior to my admission into the University, the Lord used NIFES students to encourage and assist me in my educational pursuit, and when I finally gained admission into the Ahmadu Bello University my journey and walk with the Lord took and upward trend, NIFES fellowship became a platform for my development both spiritually and in many other aspects of life, and for this I am eternally grateful to God.

MY NFES STORY

Our ( my wife and i) walk God cannot be complete without the indelible role the NIFES played. We are Life Nifes Associate members. That is the only way to give back to God and appreciate Him for what He used the Fellowship to do in our lives.
I gave my life to Christ in the village,(Eziobodo in Owerri West,of IMO state, in 1983 (Dec 30th) during the Christmas Holidays. On resumption in January,1984, God led me to the NIFES through their Banner hung outside the hall on the fellowship day.No student preached nor invited me.It was just the Mercy of God!
So I can boldly say that whatever Grace and Mercy of God you see in my life today was through the NIFES.
In 1985,I attended the Uyo NIFES Easter Conference in Uyo,and got filled with the Holy Spirit as Bro (now Rev ) Paul Okereke laid his hands on my head as the then Rev ( now) Bishop Wale Oke was ministering the Holy Spirit Baptism,in the field, after the night’s program.
That same year I was elected the Aba Sub- Zonal Coordinator,( by the way,we were the third set of the then IMO State University, before Abia state was created). I was elected in 1986 as the Owerri Zonal Coordinator, comprising ( the old Eastern Region, apart from Enugu and Eboyi States). So,as a student, by His grace,i visited 39 out of the 41 student fellowship Campuses in the following states: IMO,Abia,Rivers,Cross-River, and Bayelsa, and this was in my final year, under the able supervision and guidance of the then TS,Bro Charles Ita (now) Rev Charles, and the late Bro Godwin Ekuma(of the blessed memory), who was the associate coordinator of Owerri Zone then.

In my final year,I met my wife in the same fellowship, at Uturu ( I came from the Aba Campus, she came from Ettiti Campus), we were the first set to be in Uturu Campus with the state-of-the-art facilities.
Today,we serve God as the Anambra State Pastor and Onitsha District Overseer, of the Foursquare Gospel, Church. We are based in Onitsha, and His grace, blessed with five ( 5)grown up Children.

From the above, you can I understand my (our) roots in NIFES.I tell people that we are life-members of the NIFES fellowship. Shalom

Rev and Pst ( Mrs) Chinma Ekenma Ekeoma (due to a change of name).08037740801.

Oh! NIFES!
Oh! NIFES!

That bringeth good tidings.
Get thee up into the high mountains!

My journey into NIFES began when a few of my counselors in church recommended the fellowship to me. My expectations were very high as I had a lot of goals that I had intended to achieve. Little did I know of how much God had other better plans for me.

The first day I got to the fellowship in Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), I couldn’t understand why I had to stay in a place that had no musical instruments. There were no choir members and every member that could sing were literally the song leaders for that day. Ah. But I thought they said NIFES is a big fellowship? Why is it different here?

Well, this thoughts were going through mind throughout the service but something stood out. The word and prayer session was very unusual. However, when I got home, I was still unsure of my decision to stay because I wanted to be in a place that was spiritual but also musical. So the next Sundays that followed were filled with attending new churches and fellowships while trying to look out for what I wanted but couldn’t find it. I even told one of my brothers who at that time was not yet the National Secretary (Bro. Joseph Eniola) but still an executive in the group level about how I wasn’t so impressed with my discovery. All he said to me back in response was “Blessing, I understand. But why not just wait and see what God has to show you here. It’s not really about what you want. Just wait and see.”

At the end of moving from one church to the other, I made a decision to stay in NIFES. That was when I realized the truth and found what I had been looking for.
I can tell you that being a NIFESIAN is the best decision I have ever made and I’m grateful to God that I stayed because my mind was exposed to the rudiments of leadership, love, the word of God, prayer, giving and evangelism.

In terms of spiritual growth, my life has never been the same. And you see that thing called love, NIFES taught me its ways.

What about evangelism? I learned about it and had to come out of my comfort zone. When it comes to talking about God, shame is no longer a word in my dictionary.

Thank God for my Training Secretary, Mr. Ope Oni who took care of me like his daughter. The president, Sister Kemi who showed me love throughout her stay in school. Bro Prince and Bro Micheal whom I also met during my first year in the fellowship. They really took care of me beyond my expectations.

I remember when I had accommodation issues, my executives really came through for me. Allow me to specially recognize Sister Bukola and Onome, Sister Ifeoma and our recent outgone president, Sister Mosunmola. Thank you all for being so amazing to me.

Thank God for the wonderful executives I served with right from the zonal executives (Brother Victor and Olabanji) to the group level. I am grateful for every encounters we’ve had.

This is my NIFES story.

Oh My Nifes 🥰

My Nifes story started during my yr 1 on campus. It was on a Thursday afternoon, a friend of mine called me to come see him in a hall (GH 1). So when I came, I saw melodious voices inside an office in the hall, so I asked my friend/coursemate because I had already seen him inside there “who are those people singing so well in that office” he answered and said they are Nifesian and they are rehearsing for their Crusade which the next day (i.e Life Week). So he persuaded me to come and join them in the rehearsal, since I love music and singing. So I said ok. When I came in, men and brethren welcomed me so well like an MVP that day. The next day, I ministered in worship like a guest minister even though I wasn’t prepared, God showed up for me and Lives was blessed through my ministration. Glory to God. After then, I became part of these amazing family, I met amazing people in likes of Ma Fransisca Nze, Sir Victor, Our TS then and amongst others.

LTC came, I didn’t want to go because it was by January and my first time traveling that year, but because of the way our sub zonal vice then ma fransisca reached out to me through calls and text messages, I came. The amazing part was that the leaders then took care of my registration and transportation to and fro to LTC and it really changed my life forever. LTC was my foundation in NIFES. A place of consecration (first time praying for five hours stretch) 🙏
I also met amazing people there (My Nifes Connect).

I have also been many other Cardinal program that has changed my life as a leader and also connected me to different persons in Nigeria and the world at large.

Nifes exposed me to leadership with responsibilites.

Nifes Change me personally and I’m grateful to God for the impact.

Nifes.. building tomorrow’s leaders today.

Oh NIFES…. I gave my life in NIFES, the very day i join NIFES as a fresher, i came into school to enjoy university life and enjoy a free life because wasnt use to that while growing up in a Christian home, but NIFES caught me again. Note: I wasn’t a big sinner because i was a Christian from home, but NIFES show me that i was just a baby child christian. I became the year 1 Coordinator, DCG coordinator and also Hostel coordinator while in Year 1 and 2. While others wanted to enjoy their semi final year which is year 3 NIFES caught me again nd i became the Assistant General Secretary and i will tell u that became the best year of my academic and christian life. I got a gift that is rare… While all this was going thinking that was the last one and i will be able to enjoy and live a free life as a student in final year, i got a revelation before LTC and i started praying towards it not to happen, went for the interview during the conference and was doing anyhow, but again, God cut me, i served in FINAL YEAR wow… As the Sub zonal General Secretary and I coul tell u, it was the best service year of my life to the extend i didnt want to leave the office because of the amazing people God bless me with, so to keep up with that same people i became the Volunteers Training Secretary (VTS). NIFES made me who I’m in Christ today, their conference, their teaching, their sacrifice, their worship, their prayers. There is no place like NIFES except a brother or sister outside school stay close to u that u can worship with. Get God in NIFES and see you blossom in LIFE.

NIFES… building tomorrow’s leaders today

The story starts from where impression changed of which I’ve already made up mind of the kind of church I’ll be attending right from home before entering into campus but just in this very day, two of my colleagues in my department sis Damilola and sis Tijesunimi extends me with the warmth of love( you would definitely think I attend NIFES because of ladies but certainly not, Lola) just that there’s actually a purpose and NIFES is a medium of helping to discover the purpose and fulfilling it.

Though at some point earlier I joined NIFES but the love for God and the expression of the great love in NIFES would not allow me to rest and why would I forget the student leaders from the group president bro Matthew and sis Taiwo the vice president

As the journey continues, lots were drained out and much more stocked in as I’ve said earlier NIFES sees potential, abilities and help you discover it and bring it on till you are furnished unto every good works be it spiritually, academically, financially, maritally just name it.

Yes, when there’s positive sides there’s also negative cos a coin has two sides but all is to ensure that you are furnished for all good works because not all roads are smooth and steady but bumps are also on the way

NIFES… building tomorrow’s leaders today.

AJAO Opeyemi

I came into campus having this desire for growth, spiritual growth to be precise. I needed to be part of a Christian body that would help facilitate this growth and also share the burden that was in my heart. On a faithful Wednesday evening while going home, I heard voices of people praying at the Rivers State University Chapel of Redemption(children’s hall) so I decided to join them, and for the first time in my life I prayed for hours.

Nifes has taught me to be kingdom minded that winning of souls and making disciples is the heartbeat of the father.

NIFESIANS are people of like passion, their zeal for God is something to write home about. They are loving, caring and always carry each other burden. The leadership training in NIFES especially it’s official meeting have proven that i can become a better leader no matter the institution or organization I find myself.

Serving as an executive in NIFES wasn’t really easy as NIFES is demanding but this have helped me to work under pressure and it’s worked on my leadership ability. Nifes taught me that been an exco is only a privilege and we must always use Jesus as our role model when serving anywhere.

Nifes is a family that every student on campus should belong to. My story wont have been complete without Nifes. I bless God for revealing this truth to me for the past three years. God bless NIFES, NIFESIANS, ASSOCIATES and STAFF.

Happy anniversary to my beloved NIFES
More years to celebrate God’s goodness Amen!!
